What really made this villa vacation stand out was the level of service. The Sea Villa and staff are at your beck and call to meet your every request. We had a concierge, a butler, and two full-time maids who somehow managed to find the ever-elusive sweet spot of flawless service without feeling intrusive. Our butler for the week, a woman named Nova, was able to detect if we were hungry or tired without us ever uttering a word.

There is no shortage of fabulous dining in Anguilla. We usually started out with drinks at the chic Sunset Lounge at the Viceroy Hotel. While you’re there, you’re likely to bump into Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, Ellen DeGeneres, or Beyonce. After sunset cocktails, you can eat anything from casual Mexican food at Picante (some of the best I’ve ever had) to upscale dining at Trattoria Tramonto. Both are favorites of Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy. Liam Neeson and Aidan Quinn were both seen there over the winter holidays, as well.

If you want to do more than just lounge around your absolutely perfect villa with your attentive staff, you can head down to Shoal Bay and take a glass bottom boat tour. We spent one afternoon with our Captain, Junior, who is one of those island guys who knows where every turtle hangs out and precisely the best spot for snorkeling. He took us to a remote area called Little Bay which is only accessible by boat. It might be one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever seen in the Caribbean: Huge rocks, unspoiled sand, and shining sun, all wrapped up in beautiful blue.

As we headed out on our last day at Sea Villa, the entire staff sent us off with warm goodbyes, thank you’s and hugs: “We can’t wait to have you back, Miss Cachet!”

And as the car pulled out of the driveway, I turned around for a last look. They were all standing there smiling and waving at us. Whether you arrive by ferry boat or in your own Gulfstream jet, the only difficult thing about visiting Anguilla is leaving.
