Beauty Road Test: NARS’ Satin Lip Pencils + How to Wear Them
This 13-piece collection is a treat for your lips. Pucker up!
I’ve never met a NARS product I didn’t like, and the brand’s Satin Lip Pencil Collection ($25/pencil, narscosmetics.com) is no exception. The nourishing 13-piece collection is divided into sultry reds, playful pinks, and go-anywhere neutrals.
I had the opportunity to put three of these fresh hues to the test (lucky me!). First up was “Yu”, a funky, vibrant shade of pink that’s fit for a wild concert where all you want to do is score the drummer’s digits. Since it’s more party girl than worker bee, I swiped on a layer of “Biscayne Park” for a pucker that won’t break office dress code.

My last tester shade was “Rikugien,” a flirty rose pink. The vitamin-enriched formula glided on like a high-end balm, leaving behind a subtle shade that’s perfect for a coffee date or Sunday brunch.
Here’s how a few swipes looked on my lips:
Each lip pencil lasted through my morning cup of coffee and well into noon without a second application. Though you can use them as liners or all-over glosses, I preferred the latter (they were too pretty to use as mere liners). Best of all, these glosses aren’t sticky and won’t bleed –NARS knows how to get ‘em right!
