Never underestimate the worth of a good belt (or two, or three, or…). They can do everything from define your waist to finish off an outfit.
6. Nothing lasts forever—and hair grows back.
Seriously. If you don’t like a haircut you’ve gotten, the beautiful thing about it is that it’s not permanent. It will grow back. Also, if you’ve been wearing your hair the same wear for years and years and years, yes, it will be a bit of a shock when you finally decide to switch it up. If you don’t like it immediately, though, don’t freak out. Give yourself some time to get used to it. You might end up loving it after you’ve had a little time with it.
7. When it comes to makeup, less is more.
I adore What Not To Wear’s resident makeup magician, Carmindy, for many of the same reasons I love Say Yes to the Dress’ Randy Fenoli: She’s just so darn positive. She’s sort of the embodiment of lesson number1 (“work with what you have, because what you have is fabulous”): Her approach is about highlighting all the best parts of you without piling on a whole bunch of gunk.
8. Life is in the details—so accessorize!
Well-chosen accessories are often the difference between a good outfit and a great one. It’s the little things, no?
