Ever wished you could walk in the shoes of Marilyn Monroe? Well, now you can—literally!
According to WWD, a line of footwear inspired by the blonde bombshell is on the way. New York-based brand development company Authentic Brands Group, which holds the rights to the Marilyn Monroe estate and licenses the name for apparel and other products, just inked a deal with Will Rich Shoe Co. LLC to add the Marilyn name to a forthcoming collection of shoes. The shoes will retail for $39 to $79, and will hit stores this September for the 2013 holiday season.
What do we have to look forward to? Lots! The line will encompass flats, pumps, booties, and boots, all with the IT factor Marilyn was famous for. Said Nick Woodhouse, president and chief marketing officer for Authentic Brands, “Marilyn is fun and flirty, but she’s also glamorous and sophisticated. It’s a little bit of both and it will touch on everything.”
Added Rich Brandt, Will Rich Shoe’s president and CEO, “[When looking at any current trend], we found an actual picture of Marilyn wearing it.” Elements we can expect to see include Hollywood, athletic, Western, military, and knitwear. “It’s amazing the different worlds that she lived in,” Brandt noted.
The debut collection will target department stores like Nordstrom, Macy’s, Belk, and Dillard’s—and we can’t wait to see what they cook up! In the meantime, you can add a little Marilyn to your wardrobe with the Marilyn Monroe clothing line currently featured at Macy’s.
