7. The actress made her screen debut in 2003 on Irish public service broadcaster RTÉ with an appearance in the primetime medical drama The Clinic. Fun fact: Aidan Turner, who plays the dwarf Kili in The Hobbit, and Bridesmaids’ Chris O’Dowd were both series regulars.

8. Acting is in her blood: Her father, Paul Ronan is an actor, too. He’s appeared in such films as Veronica Guerin and The Devil’s Own. Saoirse sometimes accompanied him to the set of both films when she was a baby.

9. She currently lives in the Howth suburb of Dublin.

10. Saoirse landed the role of the 13-year-old Briony Tallis in Antonement—her breakout role—l when she was just 12 years old. According to director Joe Wright, Saoirse has “a keen sensibility which belies her years, making her perfect for the role of the young writer.”
