The Tipping List
5 Super Saver Sites
Web sites that will save you money
I do almost all my shopping online these days – honestly, you’d have to pay me to brave the mall. Plus, with all the ways you can save money shopping online, you would be CRAZY to pay full retail price for anything. I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite sites for coupons, codes and general money saving. I use these all the time – and typically end up saving anywhere from 10 to 50 percent on my orders, getting free gifts or cash back, all of which count for a lot these days!
One of the new kids on the block, gWallet is still in beta but looks promising. The baby of Gurbaksh Chahal, gWallet works with Internet retailers to bring exclusive deals and discounts to consumers (plus a few freebies along the way). And is it just me or did they hire Daily Candy’s artist? Either way, the site has my support!
This is my first stop when shopping online. Sign-up is free, and it’s so easy to use – it’s really just a portal to the places where you shop (including the Gap, Amazon, Bath and Body Works, etc.). You don’t get your discount right away – instead you get cash back on every purchase you make – sometimes up to 6 percent! Ebates.com will send a check in the mail every so often with all your cash back, so it almost feels like shopping is your second job.
Ahh, my old standby. Currentcodes.com looks and feels totally old-school; it doesn’t have any of the bells and whistles or fancy designs of the newer sites, but it is always up-to-date and has a tremendous range of information. Whether you want a discount on sunglasses or lipstick, they have the code.
Much like Currentcodes, Retailmenot is a site for finding coupon codes for online retailers. With stores like Karmaloop, Sears, American Apparel, and even Papa Johns, there is no shortage of usage for this site. (Yes, yes, it’s become a new favorite. I justify it by all the savings I’m getting!)
Another basic-looking site, Dealcatcher is still one of my favorites, even though it sometimes encourages spending (but sometimes we can all use a bit of retail therapy, right?). Every day, there is a Catch of the Day – the best of the best Internet deals – as well as new deals and discounts from around the Web. I usually take a peek once or twice a week, just in case something happens to be there that I need.
So those are my favorite money-saving sites. Are there any I’ve missed? Share your secrets with the other Bettys!
