If you get an occasional blemish, a spot treatment is probably all you need to keep your skin clear. But if acne is a chronic problem, occurs either monthly before your period or even more frequently then that, a specialized skincare regimen may be in order. According to Dr. Jeannette Graf, dermatologist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, “The advantage of using a kit is that you have a complete regimen and the ability to have different treatment ingredients in one package.”

Today’s acne treatment kits can help get your acne under control for good. They’ll treat blemishes as they appear and will prevent new ones from forming. To achieve this goal, Dr. Graf recommends looking for products that contain salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, because they effectively combat acne.

  1. I have used alot of products that was suppose to do this and that but mostly they broke my face out worste….got smart and tried pink bar of dove soap….try it let me know I swear by it and have help others also…Ive had break outs all my life and I promise this has help me…donot use deodorant soap on face it will cause breakouts also….

  2. Such a great article, thanks for including so many different products, it’s hard to find more comprehensive lists like this! I wish this was written when I was a teenager, since I had a lot of the irritation associated with cheaper treatments which provide much less soothing ingredients. Another one you might want to add to the “from the Doctor’s” list is Skinplicityskin. They have an Acne Prone regimen that my younger sister purchased through the dermatologist and she has hardly experienced any redness and her skin has improved dramatically. It’s also available online, which makes it convenient for those who don’t want to visit the dermatologist, but want gentle yet effective solutions.
