A Jesus Christ Cartoon? Seriously?
Comedy Central pushes the envelope even further with their latest show.
Comedy Central loves the drama. They’ve caused quite a stir around the world with South Park and its controversial characters (the show’s creators recently received death threats from an Islamic web site and the show has been accused of being linked to the failed bombing attempt in Times Square – you know, no big deal). And now, the network wants to expand on that “success.”
Jesus Christ has been a recurring character in the animated series, and now producers want to him to have his own show. “JC” will be a half-hour cartoon “About Christ wanting to escape the shadow of his ‘powerful but apathetic father’ and live a regular life in New York City,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
His “father,” of course, is God, who is obsessed with video games in the show. Oh boy.
We can only imagine how many angry phone calls and emails Comedy Central is about to get. But we know they secretly love it – because the drama equals buzz, and buzz equals ratings, and that’s all networks are really about, right? (Hollywood Reporter)
