Army Discharges Single Mother Who Refused to Deploy
Spc. Alexis Hutchinson is leaving the military, and will not be charged.
In November we learned of a single mother who had been arrested after refusing to deploy to Afghanistan. It was unclear if she would face criminal charges, until now.
Spc. Alexis Hutchinson, an Army cook stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, will be discharged from the military in lieu of facing a court-martial.
Although she won’t spend any time behind bars, Hutchinson is being demoted in rank to private and will lose benefits.
However, her civilian attorney Rai Sue Sussman says Hutchinson is very grateful to be able to stay with her 13-month-old son, Kamani. (Yahoo)
