Novelist Stephen King and his wife have pledged to donate money so that 150 soldiers from the Maine Army National Guard can come home for the holidays, the Associated Press reported.
King and his wife Tabitha, who are long-time Maine residents, were approached about giving $13,000 towards the cost of two bus trips for the troops to travel from a training camp in Indiana to Maine. According to one of King’s personal assistants, the couple thought that the number 13 was a bit unlucky, however, so they pitched in $12,999 and the assistant donated the additional dollar.
Thanks to the horror writer, the soldiers will get to enjoy Christmas with their families before departing for Afghanistan in January. (Fox News)
