Britney Spears and Me
Britney Spears has her bikini bod back. Mark my words, her career will follow.
After three sold-out nights of her Circus tour at Madison Square Garden, Britney Spears is officially reclaiming her throne. I know that’s a very strong statement considering what she’s been through over the past few years. Sure, she had a drunken quickie Vegas marriage (and an annulment less than 55 hours later) in 2004. Yes, her star first started to fall when she married backup dancer K-Fed and popped out two babies (only true fans could appreciate their bad – but perfectly named – reality show, Chaotic).
No one can forget she threw milkshakes at the paparazzi, and shaved her own head. Her so-called “comeback” at the 2007 Video Music Awards was a massive failure, with her choreographed dance moves deteriorating to her fumbling around the stage, and her lip-synching being seconds – and feeling like minutes – off from her track of “Gimme More.”
The absolute worst in her destructive downward spiral came when she locked herself and her son Jayden in her L.A. bathroom in January 2008. Sadly, police had to be called, and she was held for psychiatric treatment at Cedars-Sinai for a mandatory 72-hour lockdown. Her dad, Jamie, even had to step in to become her conservator. All said and done, it’s not surprising that many people thought Britney’s career was KO’d and down for the count – permanently.
