Brittany Murphy Foundation to Return Donations
Simon Monjack and the Brittany Murphy Foundation vow to return donations since they aren’t an official charity.
We knew there was something fishy going on with the Brittany Murphy Foundation. First, the foundation, run by Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, and mother, Sharon Murphy, cancelled a charity event which they had already started collecting money for ($1000 per head, to be exact).
Then, through a little investigation, TMZ discovered that the Brittany Murphy Foundation wasn’t a legitimate charity or non-profit group because they hadn’t filed any paperwork. When TMZ called the foundation to comment this weekend, they immediately shut down their website.
That’s not sketchy at all.
Now, they’ve posted a letter on their website, stating:
“We have decided instead to wait until we have our nonprofit status approved before proceeding to ensure that we can truly honor Brittany’s charitable desires. Any donations made up until this point will be returned until we have all our paperwork solidified.”
This does not make Simon Monjack or Sharon Murphy look good. We wonder what Brittany Murphy would think about all of this? (Radar Online)
