Many users are quitting the number one social networking site due to privacy concerns.
Facebook: it’s our connection to hundreds of people we would never hear from otherwise, and it wastes countless hours of our life we will never get back as we click through our friends’ photos and read their statuses. But it’s fun and harmless, right?
Many people have been deciding to delete their account, as the Google search for “How to Quit Facebook” has surged in popularity in recent weeks. As it turns out, actually quitting Facebook is harder than you would think, but users are willing to go through the extra steps to bid adieu to the social networking site. These ex-Facebookers will be turning to sites like Diaspora*, a new social networking site that lets users control their own information and how much is shared. Sounds like a nice alternative to us!
