Dancing With the Stars doesn’t return to TV till March 22, but judge Carrie Ann Inaba is already getting ready for the new season (the show’s 10th!). The dancer, choreographer and TV Guide red carpet host opened up to BettyConfidential about who she’s like to see on the show, what Paula Abdul told her about leaving American Idol and what she doesn’t like about being a judge on the hit show.

Who are your dream contestants for Dancing With the Stars?
I would love to see someone like Roger Federer, a male tennis player. I think there are so many great male tennis players and they are so agile. I want to see how that would translate onto the dance floor. I would also like to see somebody who’s a little bigger.

Bigger in what way?
Size-wise, a bigger man. Not an athlete but maybe someone who can learn the joy of movement and maybe it would really do a lot for them. I would be curious to see how that would turn out.

What’s the scoop on Paula Abdul, is she going to be a guest judge this season?
I don’t know about that. When she left American Idol, there were rumors and then we finished up the season and she never appeared.

I mean, it would be great to have Paula as a guest judge every once and awhile. We had [Moulin Rouge director] Baz Luhrman on last season. That was a dream come true!

But I think Paula’s going to do X Factor with Simon [Cowell], which would be good for her and I’m sooo happy because it killed me to see Paula sort of walk away from something that was so good.

But you know the one thing about Paula, and we had a talk about this, she said, “I have to make a stand for myself,” and I’m really proud of her. She walked away from a very well-paying high-profile job. Her life was perfect but she did it for really strong reasons and I think she set a really good example for women out there, to stand up for what you believe in, and I have a feeling that things will work themselves out. She will probably be on X Factor with Simon Cowell and things will be great again.
