Credit Card Companies to Waive Fees on Charitable Donations to Help Haiti
More money will reach Haiti, thanks to credit card companies waiving their transaction fees.

As recovery efforts in Haiti wage on after a tragic earthquake rocked the island nation this week, American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover have all announced that they will waive fees for charitable donations related to the crisis, marking only the second time they have ever done so.
Traditionally, three percent of most donations would be skimmed off by banks and credit card companies to cover “transaction costs,” which results in these companies making huge profits off of tragedies. However, because of the massive scope of damage Haiti suffered, one hundred percent of the money most people donate via those credit cards will go directly to help the survivors and clean-up efforts.
