Dad Locks Kids in Trunk While Running Errands
Michael Monahan’s excuse: “the boys like to play in the trunk.”
Michael Monahan, 35, of Fall River, Massachusetts thought it would be a good idea to lock his 3-year-old and 6-year-old sons in his trunk while he shopped at a sailing store on Tuesday. Not even the backseat, but the trunk of his Pontiac Trans Am.
After he was of course arrested and charged with assault and reckless endangerment of a child, Monahan’s plea of innocence included “the boys like to play in the trunk.” And how would one figure that out in the first place? Oh, by locking their sons in the trunk and leaving them there for several minutes to fend for themselves.
Monahan has been released on cash bail after he plead not guilty to the charges on Wednesday. His two sons are staying with their mother in the meantime. We have a suggestion for you Mr. Monahan: the next time you are left alone with your kids, how about taking them with you while you shop. (Huffington Post)
