Australian critics were disappointed to find that Britney Spears lip-syncs during her very expensive concerts (to which we say, “duh!”).
Soon, she and other performers in Australia may have to disclose in advance their plans for lip-syncing: “It’s Britney’s ‘prerogative’ to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front,” said Virginia Judge, Minister for Fair Trading in New South Wales, Australia, in a statement.
Britney’s penchant for lip-syncing has been widely reported through the years, but it seems not everyone got the memo. Critics claim that fans walked out of Britney’s shows, but Spears’ team members are fighting back.
“Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it,” Paul Dainty, Britney’s tour promoter, told The Australian. “She’s a human being. I’m embarrassed … to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting.”
Britney’s manager Adam Leber used Brit’s Twitter to defend her: “Its unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn’t enjoy the show last night … Fortunately the other 18, 272 fans in attendance did. –Adam.”
Um, do these people know anything about Britney? Ms. Spears has been (allegedly!) lip-syncing since her “… Baby One More Time” days. You don’t go to a concert to hear her sing, you go for the spectacle of her show. Geez. Go to PopEater for more on this story. (PopEater)
