BeautifulPeople.com prides itself on being “the largest network of attractive people in the world”, and therefore terminated 5,000 accounts after certain members put on weight over the holidays.

The banning was initiated by physically fit users who control the membership of the site in order to keep the selection top notch.

“As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld,” site founder Robert Hintze explained. “Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.” (BBC News)

  1. HAHA. OMG. This business might not be a business for much longer if they keep kicking people out.

How ridiculously and utterly superficial. How do they even determine if someone is “beautiful” enough to be on their site? It seems very subjective. AND how did 5,000 people get so “fat” over the holidays that their once beautiful self is no longer deemed so?

Also, their site founder just called 5,000 people “fatties.” That’s mature. I’d like to see their business model. I’m trying to figure where they fit in, “no fatties allowed.”
