‘Dumb Jock’ Myth is False
Study finds toned students excel in school.
A recent study published in The Journal of Pediatrics reveals that physically fit students tend to do better in school than their overweight peers.
Dr. William J. McCarthy and colleagues at the University of California in Los Angeles found scores on standardized reading, math and language tests dropped more than one point for each extra minute it took middle and high school pupils to finish a one mile run/walk fitness exam.
McCarthy’s team says further studies are necessary in order to figure out why aerobic fitness appears to play a part in academic performance. (Fox News)
