More details have emerged about the alleged stalker of Erin Andrews, who reportedly followed her across the country and secretly videotaped the ESPN reporter naked in her hotel room.
48-year-old Michael David Barrett of Chicago allegedly doctored the peepholes on the doors of a Nashville hotel and made eight videotapes on a cell phone camera of a nude Andrews that he put on the Internet and tried to sell. Barrett was able to pull off the Peeping Tom crime by learning Andrews’ travel schedule and calling around to local hotels and asking them if she was staying there.
“During those calls, he would ask if Erin Andrews is a guest or expected. To our shock, some hotels gave him an answer… The [Nashville] hotel assigned rooms to the predator and the victim in an isolated alcove which facilitated his ability to film through the altered peephole in virtual privacy,” said Andrews’ attorney, Marshall Grossman.
“The hotel was a reckless accomplice,” Grossman added.
Barrett, who is thought to have been stalking Andrews since 2008, was arrested last Friday night in Chicago. He was ordered to appear before a federal jury in California this week where the charges were filed against him. (NY Post)
