Elizabeth Edwards opens furniture store
As a federal grand jury investigates whether her husband, John Edwards, used campaign funds to pay of his mistress and tabloids buzz about DNA tests, Elizabeth Edwards has put her energy into a new furniture store that she opened in North Carolina on Saturday.
The Chapel Hill store, named Red Window, was inspired by a charity store her mom ran when Elizabeth was a child. On hand for the opening was Elizabeth’s 11-year-old daughter, Emma Claire, as well as her husband.
“I do more moving furniture than anything else,” John said. “This is Elizabeth’s deal, but everybody in the family is trying to help support her.”
Responding to a question about recent tabloid reports concerning her husband’s mistress, Rielle Hunter, Elizabeth, who has terminal cancer, said, “Tabloid news is tabloid news. We just have a family to run and now a business to run as well, so we just keep our eye on that ball and try to ignore what supermarket tabloids have to say.” (ABC News)
