Yay! Dancing with the Stars season 10 begins and I’m Marissa Jaret Winokur, who you remember danced on Season 6 of the show. Let me tell you the first two weeks are by far the scariest! You don’t know what to expect. You rehearse for days — almost three weeks for one two-minute dance. I hardly slept at all. I would just lie in bed trying to run that dance over and over in my head. But nothing can prepare you for that first night. You stand atop that long, scary, stairway, waiting to hear your name with the other dancers and cast and start praying you don’t wipe out in front of 25 million viewers. Then you start thinking … Not only are there 25 million viewers, but if you fall down those stairs people can hit rewind on their TIVOs. Or worse, it will be on YouTube 30 seconds later. Heck, my own brother in New York would have it Facebook-ed it before it aired in LA! As scared as you are, you grab your partner, hold your head high and make your entrance. That’s just the beginning of the first night stress which is quickly followed by – “OMG, PLEASE! I CANT be the first to go home!”
Me on season 6 of Dancing With the Stars!
So last night, I turned on my TV at 8 p.m. to watch the season’s premiere only to find so many changes! I am so glad we had that red room to escape to and cry in. I probably would have died if I’d had to walk through the crowd and go to a glass fishbowl-room situated in the audience.
I have to say the most hated thing about this season’s premiere was waiting until 9:53 p.m. to see Pam Anderson dance. Smart move by the producers, but I bet everyone at home felt the same as me. Pam didn’t disappoint. She was totally sexy and looked like she was having fun. I love Pam, so I’m biased and want her to win! I’m also partial to Tony Dovolani (he’s my ex-partner), and Kate Gosselin is very lucky to have him. In my opinion Kate is totally out of her element here. However, Tony will whip her into shape — trust me. I think we got lower scores our first week too and we made it to the final four!
