Exercise Frequently and Eat Less to Stave Off Breast Cancer
It isn’t all about genes, ladies, so watch what you do with that beautiful body!
At a conference this week researchers revealed that up to a third of breast cancer cases reported in Western countries could be avoided if women simply ate less and exercised more.
Carlo La Vecchia, head of epidemiology at the University of Milan, told the Associated Press that early diagnosis and mammogram screenings have been very helpful in combating the disease, but that the focus should shift to changing certain behaviors.
“What can be achieved with screening has been achieved,” she stated. “We can’t do much more. It’s time to move onto other things.”
The American Cancer Society recommends 45 to 60 minutes of physical activity five or more days a week to reduce the risk of contracting the disease. (Yahoo News)
