“Farrah Believed She Would Get Better”
Jaclyn Smith talks to BettyConfidential about her stay-young secrets, why you won’t see her on Dancing With the Stars and her memories of close friend and Charlie’s Angels co-star Farrah Fawcett.
She’s been an icon for almost four decades, but somehow Jaclyn Smith just doesn’t seem to age. The 62-year-old attributes looking far younger than her years because of a healthy lifestyle. “I don’t drink, I never did a drug, I don’t smoke and I eat healthy and I exercise,” the Charlie’s Angels star tells Betty Confidential. Well, there’s that, and the fact that she doesn’t sweat the small stuff. “Let’s try to keep ourselves in the best shape we can for our health,” says Jaclyn. “But I also relax about it. My mom grew older gracefully and beautifully by not obsessing.”
So you don’t freak when you see a little line?
To say I never notice a line at this age would be silly. I look back at stacks of pictures from the ‘80s. But I don’t put too much into fretting. It’s life and life moves. I remember my mother said to me, “It’s not the lines. It’s not how your face is. When you’re older, the look out of your eyes is different and that says that you’ve lived and taken it all in.” I know my mother kept getting more beautiful with age.
Do you torment yourself over your diet?
Look, I’m going to continue to have toast if I want it. I eat pretty clean, but if I want my gummies and some Pinkberry, it’s going to happen. Life is to be enjoyed.
You also have a whole beauty line with amazing wigs. Why do this line?
It’s just so great because we’re doing them with human hair now. Many actresses use hair enhancement, wigs, clip-ons. They’re so natural-looking and no one would ever know. I’ve had friends who have paid a fortune for wigs and they can’t believe that mine are so affordable.
