Fashion Week Review: Style360’s Pink Dress Collection
One of the most memorable shows from this season’s Fashion Week combined a girl’s favorite color with her favorite cause
I was seeing pink all over at Style360’s Pink Dress Collection presented by Clarisonic on Tuesday, September 15, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC. The show was put on as part of Rock Fashion Week to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, an effort to find a cure and spread awareness for breast cancer.
The show was definitely one of the more exciting ones at this year’s Fashion Week – in its intimate setting, guests were invited to peruse and score freebies from a variety of booths set up, including Orbit, Elle Jewelry, and Clarisonic, who created a limited-edition Clarisonic sonic-cleansing body brush just for the event.
The show itself was expertly put together with a crisp, clean white runway, bumping music, and pink dresses to die for. The pink dress theme stems from the idea that a pink dress is the new symbol for breast cancer awareness. According to the show’s program, “The pink dress is geared to remind women about the dangers of breast cancer and to educate younger women about the new facts and figures, which will hopefully encourage women (and men) to have annual check-ups.”
A number of models, breast cancer survivors, and celebrities such as Dancing with the Stars’ Brooke Burke and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton strutted their stuff down the runway in pink dresses (Perez wore a pink suit) by sought-after designers, including Betsey Johnson, Guess by Marciano, Juicy Couture, Lilly Pulitzer, Luca Luca, Nicole Miller, and Terexov.
I found myself taking photos of every dress to emerge on the runway because they were all so beautiful and practical to wear – there was no nonsense couture here, and I was glad of it. I wanted to buy most of the dresses, which is a good thing, since they will all be auctioned off at an after-party for the show’s debut in L.A., and all proceeds of the auction will go directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Overall, the show was a definite hit, and it combined all of the things that I love – killer fashion, celebrity sightings, a great crowd, and sweet freebies, all for a fantastic and incredibly worthy cause.
