We are so excited that Jayne and Jennifer have agreed to give us the inside scoop as they prepare to cover the Inauguration on Tuesday! They’ll be blogging about all the events and balls they cover next week. For now … take a peek at what goes on as they get ready for the balls. Read about their search for the perfect gowns here.

Jayne and I started our week ushering in award season by doing a red carpet wrap up of The Golden Globes for ABC News NOW’s What’s the Buzz.

Sunday night was spent watching, emailing/texting (no talking) with our fashion obsessed circle. Up for review: the looks that we will see for months to come which will be interpreted in many different ways throughout Spring in hair, make up and the looks we will see referenced throughout the official award season and at parties, balls, weddings and proms in the coming year. The Inaugural Balls will Jaynebe the next display of “what they are wearing.” Jayne and Jen will be there and we too will be wearing the gowns that we were able to score at 60 percent and 70 percent off! I will be wearing J. Mendel (a popular choice of actresses on the Golden Globe Red Carpet (Elizabeth Banks, Kate Beckinsale) and Jayne will be wearing Oscar (Kyra Sedgewick and Olivia Wilde).

It is clear that a fresh, natural approach to the face is the prevailing look but also, a reflection of where make up is heading this year and in the coming season. Thanks to this trend, Jayne and I will most definitely be wearing our “fresh face” with the help of Lauren Ogden Miller, a freelance make up artist who is part of our Washington “glam team.” Lauren is a transplanted New Yorker who came highly recommended by a major network anchor’s wife, who had hired Lauren to do the wedding party make up. Lauren recommended Eduardo who works out of the Georgetown salon ILO (

The hair that we want to have will clearly be some form of “bed head.” A tousled or loose curl/wave that is either framing the face (while the rest is drawn into a bun) or resembling Marilyn Monroe or Angie Dickinson circa 1960 something.

Kate Winslet Golden Globes

Drew Barrymore Cameron DIaz

Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz at the Golden Globes — what NOT to do!

This week has been like any week before a milestone event: get plenty of sleep, exercise for mind and body confidence, take care of hair (especially color so as not to resemble Cameron Diaz’s tie-dyed root situation), preparation and homework. We have come up with so many talking points relating to Inaugural fashion through the years, The Obama’s influences as a family and as individuals and many other aspects of style and politics.

Next stop: Washington!!!!
