Lilly Allen

Lilly Allen is holding this season’s hottest accessory: Chanel’s Coco Cocoon Large tote. As the face of the Coco Cocoon ad campaign, the singer was among the first to own a piece from the collection, which features reversible quilted nylon bags that Hollywood is going kooky over.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Slumdog Millionaire‘s Freida Pinto, and a handful of their fellow lucky leading ladies have already snagged their own Coco Cocoon bags. But others like Blake Lively are searching high and low for the in-demand accessory, which is currently sold out in Chanel’s New York boutiques according to the New York Post.

Chanel Coco Cocoon Bag

Perhaps celebrities love the bag because it gives them a lot of bang for their buck — the bag goes for $2,595 to $4,000, depending upon whether you pick up the small or large version. Either way, it’s like getting two bags in one. One side has soft, shiny horizontal quilting that resembles a puffy winter jacket. Flip it inside out, and you’ve got Chanel’s classic quilted pattern, lined in red – which was Coco Chanel’s favorite color to line her bags.

If you love the look but aren’t enamoured with the price tag, here are some less expensive versions:

I used to own FIVE Chanel bags that were stolen in a burglary (they stole everything I owned and I never got a dime of insurance money – long story). A man whom I met and dated a few times sent me the new jumbo 2.55 and I take it out of the dust bag and smell it and pet it every day! Even though I am 56 years old, one NEVER gets over the dream of owning a genuine Chanel bag. I have terminal cancer and live on 1/5 of what I used to, so buying the new cocoon is out for me. But, boy, would I LOVE to own one??? To me, that’s such a rhetorical question!!
