The best-kept celeb secret is how A-listers maintain a stunning head of hair after constantly mistreating it. Actresses like Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel and Cate Blanchett regularly alter their locks for roles. Rapid color changes combined with heated styling tools can create major hair havoc. Yet when you do see them on the red carpet, their tresses look luscious. What’s their secret? Read on.
1. STICK TO MOISTURIZING SHAMPOOS
Look for shampoos that contain olive oil, shea butter, cupuacu butter or jojoba. Even though you’re cleansing your hair, you can still add moisture to it.

2. USE A RICH CONDITIONER ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE HAIR
Don’t apply conditioner only on the ends; they’re the first to go when you get a trim. Start at the crown and then comb it to the ends. Look for super-emollient brands with protein for strengthening benefits, and botanical extracts like shea butter, jojoba, avocado and plant oils to hydrate and smooth.

3. SATURATE ROOTS TO TIPS WITH A HAIR MASK ONCE A WEEK
Pumping in extra moisture and deep-treating split ends and dryness is essential to keeping hair looking healthy. Cover with a plastic shower cap or plastic wrap “turban” for 30 to 60 minutes for maximum penetration — even if the label says 3 to 5 minutes — the result is silky, shiny hair. Botanical extracts and plant oils heal and strengthen the cuticle and restore shine.
