ASK REAL GUYS
How Do I Get the Ball Rolling?
Dear ASK REAL GUYS: I am currently attracted to a lifeguard that I work with. He is three years older than me but he seems interested as well. He always says hello to me first and we can just sit together and hangout without it being awkward, for me at least. Sometimes he will put his arm on my shoulder, like the other day when he was guarding and I didn’t have to get in the pool, so I sat next to him and he put his arm around me and pointed out the ladybug I had on my ear (due to the earrings). We always play around like throw stuff at each other, just play fight.
Towards the beginning of when we first met my friend texted him and at one point asked if he thought I was pretty, and he said “haha yeah she is.” In a later conversation she told him I thought he was cute. My questions are: How do I know if he is really interested, and what can I do to take it to the next level? Any advice on where to go from here?
Avery: This guy who you are heavily flirting with – and who’s flirting with you – obviously likes you but it seems like both of you are afraid of taking it to the next level.
Since he’s not making the next move and you seem to want to get there, take the “bull by the horns” and suggest that you guys get together outside of the life guarding time. Suggest that you go to lunch or do coffee or see a movie … things that are more casual and less formal. Once he sees that you are really interested, he’ll probably suggest doing something the next time.
