John Travolta Heartbroken Over Son’s Death
Tragic accident takes Jett Travolta’s life
As a writer, one of my jobs is to check in with the daily headlines to find out the daily scoop and bring the news to you. This weekend, the words stung me as I read: Travolta, son and autopsy, and I yelled to the other room to my husband, “John Travolta’s son died?!”
Jett Travolta, John’s and Kelly Preston’s 16-year-old son, has indeed died. Details are still sketchy, but reports indicate he had a seizure while on vacation in the Bahamas with his family and then fell and hit his head on the sink and bathtub.
John apparently tried to resuscitate his son, but couldn’t save him.
John and Kelly released this heart-rending statement on John’s Web site:
We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future.
With love, John, Kelly and Ella
As a parent, this is the single-most worst possible thing that could happen in your life, worse than a spouse dying. My heart goes out to the family, and I’m sure every mother feels the same way as I do.
Recent footage of the family in Paris shows how close the family is as John holds hands with Jett and with 8-year-old Ella, and we are so sad for their loss.
