And the winner is: farmer-turned-country singer Kevin Skinner! The Kentucky native won viewers over with his rendition of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.”
Skinner beat out opera singer and cancer survivor Barbara Padilla to take the title. He will receive a $1 million prize and his own show in Las Vegas.
Skinner told America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon that he’s ready for Vegas: “I’m going to go out there and give them the best show I can.”
But before the winner was annouced, all of the finalists had to compete with Scottish singing sensation and Britain’s Got Talent vet Susan Boyle.
Boyle made her American television debut on Wednesday night’s finale, and stole the show with her performance of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.”
Here’s hoping fame doesn’t go to Susan Boyle’s head. Just keep her away from the Chateau Marmont and the Lohan family and everything should be fine. (E! Online)
