Daily Dish: Lady Gaga: Dad Saved Me from Cocaine Addiction
Inside the quirky crooner’s sordid past
The zany entertainer known as Lady Gaga has opened up about her former battles with addiction, and how she managed to get out of the massive hole that had become her life.
The 23-year-old singer’s drug of choice in 2005 was cocaine, which she began to use on a regular basis after withdrawing from a music course at New York University.
Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, credits her father for pulling her out of her deadly drug-induced world.
“My father is a really powerful man, a telecom guy,” she disclosed. “So he looked at me one day and said, ‘You’re f***in’ up, kid.’ And I looked at him and thought, ‘How does he know that I’m high right now?’”
The incident – which the two never spoke of again – really hit home for Gaga, and she was able to kick the habit.
And although Gaga still likes to party she knows her boundaries.
“I can drink, and I’m not gonna say that I don’t party. But it’s not everyday, and it’s no longer a tool for my creativity,” she told U.S. Web site ShockHoun.
We’re just happy to hear that Ms. Gaga has ditched the drugs for good. (Daily Mail)
