Take a Few Cues from Linda Wells
The ultimate recessionista collection!
-The Betty Editors
Even Linda Wells, the longtime editor-in-chief for Allure pinches pennies these days when it comes to beauty. In fact, Wells told the Wall Street Journal that she buys many of her favorite products in the drugstore.
Wells’ recessionista beauty bag includes Olay Daily Facials cleansing cloths. She uses them to wash her face. They are inexpensive and she says “They do the work of a facial – you just scrub your face and you’re done.” $6.49, Drugstore.com
Her moisturizer is L’Oreal’s Skin Genesis, another drugstore brand. She also uses inexpensive sunscreens and mascara. “You can also scrimp on hair products,” she says. Her favorites are Sunsilk and Pantene products.
What is worth paying big bucks for, she believes, is a high-end foundation such as Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk. $58, NeimanMarcus.com
Her biggest beauty splurge – a GREAT haircut!
