Among the winners was Lindsey Vonn who, despite her shin injury, finally won the gold medal she’d been hoping for in women’s downhill skiing. She was by far the fastest, finishing the course in 1 minute, 44.19 seconds. “This is everything I’ve wanted and hoped for,” Vonn said.

Vonn’s American teammate, Julia Mancuso, took home the silver for women’s downhill, and American Shani Davis won the gold for men’s 1,000 meter speedskating. Shaun White predictably took home gold for snowboarding, and Scotty Lago and Chad Hedrick won medals in their respective sports. (Huffington Post, Newser)
