At the gym

Each weekday this month, check out BettyConfidential’s exclusive tip from top trainers and nutritionists, and take a look at the daily three-meal menu from NutriFit, a health-conscious food delivery program that works with A-list stars like Angelina Jolie.

Quit reading. You took the time to get to the gym, so focus on fitness when you’re there! Don’t be like all the other people who read magazines or text while they’re on the treadmill. If you do, chances are you’ll give your body less of a workout than it deserves. Fitness expert Grace Lazenby, creator of the Rockin’ Models workout at Equinox Fitness, suggests you’ll be much better off swapping your cell phone for an iPod. We push ourselves harder when we hear a great song, explains Lazenby, while we reduce our intensity when distracted by a new message. (Afterwards, though, you can text your friends and tell them what a great workout you just had!)

Today’s Menu:

1 cup nonfat or lowfat milk
2 tablespoons raisins
Dash cinnamon
1 slice whole-wheat toast with 1 teaspoon fruit preserves
