Fabulous in 4 weeks

To jump-start your weight-loss resolutions (we’ve made them, too!) we interviewed nutritionists and trainers for the smartest strategies to reach your goal. Each day this month, we’ll be giving you a tip to help you eat (or exercise) your best. And we’re also sharing a daily menu from NutriFit, a Los Angeles food-delivery program that’s worked with stars from Angelina Jolie to Ashlee Simpson.

Are you ready to make this your healthiest New Year ever? Let’s do it!

Tip of the day:

Snack smart. You’ve probably been nibbling on holiday treats for the past few weeks, so now is a perfect time to choose better munchies. Nutritionist and wellness coach Jackie Keller, author of Body After Baby and founder of the Nutrifit food-delivery program in Los Angeles, suggests easy, calcium-filled snacks like a stick of string cheese or an individual slice of low-fat cheddar cheese. If you’re battling a sweet tooth, try fresh slices of apples or pears mixed with ½ ounce of nuts (nutrient-packed walnuts or almonds are best).

  1. What do you recommend for a vegetarian? A Lacto-ovo-vegetarian. I have been trying to fin a diet suitable for me. Every where I go it is a very unrealistic diet which helps shed only the water weight then when you are back on regular food you are back to square one maybe with more pounds than you started out with. I have pretty healthy eating habits but since I have crossed 40 I have been gaining a few pounds here and there. Please suggest something. Thanks
