Matt Lauer’s Secret Obsession
Today Show Host can’t stop using hand sanitizer.
We always knew that Matt Lauer was a dapper kind of guy, but even we were surprised to hear what he does all day, every day.
The revelation came as the Today Show host interviewed actor Russell Crowe about Crowe’s movie Robin Hood, out this month. It’s set in the Middle Ages, an era not known for fussy personal hygiene.
And as you’d expect from director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down), the movie is a grimy, dusty swordfest.
Matt seemed taken aback by the prospect of living in a world of dirt and grit.
“I’m a guy who uses Purell eight to ten times a day,” Matt admitted to Crowe. “I couldn’t last fifteen minutes in the twelfth century.”
Crowe laughed at Lauer’s remark. “I think you’d do fine, actually,” he said. “But you’ve got to get over this hand cleanliness thing.”
Dozens of movies have been made about Robin Hood, the legendary English thief who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. The newest version is practically a prequel, chronicling Robin Hood’s life as a soldier before his career as a robber.
A great guy – but we’re pretty sure Robin Hood didn’t take a daily shower, either. (The Today Show)
