Can giving an autistic child marijuana improve his condition? That’s the belief of one California mother whose decision to feed her 10 year old autistic son marijuana brownies has sparked outrage in the medical community.

Mieko Hester-Perez says her son, Joey, was malnourished and out of control before she convinced a doctor to give her a prescription for marijuana, which is legal in California for medicinal purposes.

“He was 48 pounds and 10 years old,” Hester-Perez said during an interview with Fox News on Monday morning. “You could see all his bones … His arms, legs, chest and torso were all the same size. He had extremely aggressive behavior. He was running out of our home. … He was unstable.”

However, Dr. Sharon Hirsch of the University of Chicago Medical Center also appeared on Fox & Friends to vehemently oppose Hester-Perez’s decision to give a child whose brain is still developing a mind-altering substance.

“Certainly anytime you have a child with a chronic serious illness, you want to reach for something that will help,” Hirsch said. “But (in this case) you may be reaching for something that is more harmful than the illness itself,” she said. (Fox News)

So does paying attention to your kid helps too to get him into the real world instead of putting the kid in front of the TV all day. if he has a educational problem and gets frustrated talk to the school. its pathetic getting your kid hooked on joints at his age.
