New Drug Could Put a Stop to Snoring
Tired of that power saw sleeping next to you? Then keep tabs on this up and coming miracle pill.
A new pill called Qnexa, which was originally developed to combat obesity, may be the key to snore-free living.
The drug is made up of a stimulant called phentermine and an anti- epilepsy drug called topiramate.
Recently a small U.S. trial was conducted, and the results showed that the once-a-day pill cut snoring rates by nearly 70 percent. Researchers are now scheduling larger studies to see if the drug can treat other sleeping disorders.
Those who have used the drug lost an average of 10 percent of their body weight and were able to sleep soundly through the night.
‘We won’t know whether it is any use to habitual snorers who are not overweight until more research has been carried out,” Professor Jim Horne, a specialist in sleep medicine at Loughborough University, revealed. (Daily Mail)
