New Spray Makes Guys Want to Cuddle?
A ‘cuddle drug’ in spray form makes men more emotionally sensitive.
There must be a lot of frustrated female scientists out there – first, there was Viagra, and now, there’s a new spray that makes men more sensitive and affectionate. So now women can get what they really want in the bedroom – a cuddle buddy.
The new spray contains a natural hormone already made in the body called oxytocin. In women, this hormone is released during labor to help with breastfeeding and to strengthen the bond between mother and child. When scientists used a spray containing this hormone on men, they found that men were more emotionally empathetic when shown touching photos, like a little girl crying.
“It is a big effect,” said Dr. Kendrick of the Babraham Institute in Cambridge. “It gets men up to the levels shown by women – it could be a good thing or bad thing, depending on which way you look at it. For many women, you could say it would almost be a godsend to make a man more empathetic and more like them. On the other hand, I am not sure they are used to having men that empathetic.”
If a spray or two of this “cuddle drug” could get a guy to watch The Notebook with us, then yes, sign us up. But if he cries more during the movie than we do, than we’d be a little scared.
