Scientists claim flicking the switch on to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night can cause cancer.

If you have the urge to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, keep the lights off. Sure, you may not be able to see much, and it could get a little messy, but it may decrease your chance of getting cancer. Seriously.

A recent study conducted by geneticist Professor Charalambos Kyriacou at Leicester University in the UK found that mice who were exposed to artificial light for one hour experienced changes in brain cells that control body function, as opposed to the mice who were kept in the dark.

Although this is preliminary research, the results suggest that the exposure to artificial light in the middle of the night messes up your body clock, causing an “over-expression” of cells that could increase the risk of cancer.

So, just to be safe, keep the lights off if you’ve got to pee! It could save your life! (Daily Mail)
