In a move that is sure to cause quite an uproar, Planned Parenthood has penned a report called “Stand and Deliver” which supports the notion that children as young as 10 should be given extensive sex education – including a rundown on sexual pleasure.

The organization alleges that religious groups, mainly Muslims and Catholics, deny their children access to sufficient sexual programs and education.

“Young people’s sexuality is still contentious for many religious institutions,” the report reads. “Fundamentalist and other religious groups — the Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic Schools) for example — have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, particularly, from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction. Currently, many religious teachings deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex.”

The report also states that young children have a right to be informed about sexuality and birth control.

I don’t get why some parents don’t want their kids to learn about sex. It’s not like you’re showing them porn! But allowing them to have Sex Ed in school is a really good idea. Nothing inappropriate would be said in a school, and it would teach kids the risks of having sex too young. If no one teaches a teen that they can get pregnant and get STD’s from having sex and show them ALL of the risks (emotional and physical), then they are much more likely to start having sex because all they no is that it feels good and mom and dad disapprove. And really, what is more appealing to a teenager than something their parents forbid? Don’t believe me, check out The Pregnancy Pact on Lifetime. It’s based on a true story about a group of girls who weren’t much about sex and decide to get pregnant because they want to have someone who would love them unconditionally, without even thinking about the hardships it would put them and their child through!
