In sad news released on Sunday by the Wall Street Journal, the number of suicides in the U.S. is on the rise and some experts believe the current recession may be to blame.
Historically, downturns in the economy have always created an uptick in self-inflicted deaths and, according to early data from 19 states, a reported 33,185 suicides took place in 2008, an increase of 2.3 percent from the previous year.
Suicides in the workplace and the military were also up, the newspaper reported. (Fox News)
