When she first got called into Donald Trump’s boardroom, Holly Robinson Peete was anxious. “I was full of nervous energy, of course,” the Celebrity Apprentice star tells BettyConfidential. “I found that Mr. Trump has many layers. He’s intimidating one moment, disarmingly charming and hilarious the next. The unpredictability of the board room was exciting!” No doubt the mother of four and wife of former-football-player husband Rodney Peete was relieved not to be the first one fired (that honorable distinction went to writer-comedian Carol Leifer.) On this week’s episode (airing on Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC), the men’s and women’s teams must build a storefront to re-launch Kodak’s famous Kodak Moments campaign. And while Holly, 45, won’t share how she fared in the challenge, she does reveal that starring on Celebrity Apprentice has been a real eye-opener for her: “I have an intense, competitive side I wasn’t aware of!”

What do you think is going to keep you from getting fired?
Drive, intensity, focus, preparation and an authentic compassion for the charity component.

Who do you see as your stiffest competition?
Sharon Osbourne and [Olympic sprinter] Michael Johnson. She’s so strong and he seems very driven and intense. And we already know he’s competitive!

Who did you bond with most?
[Olympic swimmer] Summer Sanders is my Celebrity Apprentice BFF. Not to be corny, but we will be friends forever. Mommy-sister-girlfriends for life, baby! She’s my kinda girl.

After working with The Donald first-hand, what do you think of him?
He’s multi-faceted, unpredictable, scary, funny, brutal, self-deprecating, endearing and talented. He’s a bona fide TV star.

What made you want to be a contestant in the first place?
I was a fan of the show, and watched both previous cycles, but never, ever pictured myself on it.  I decided to do it, though, because my son RJ is autistic, and so the opportunity to share the issues families affected by autism struggle with daily on network TV was too potentially impactful to pass up.

She has guts for dealing with Donald Trump! And I loved watching Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper when I was younger!
