When Pam Anderson showed up at an awards ceremony late last fall dressed artfully in a pale-peach Dennis Basso gown with a trail and one-half slit up the leg, holding the hand of an unknown little girl, everyone just knew this was some kind of resurgence — a statement that she was trying to find her way back into the spotlight.

Now the 43-year-old is finally be getting her chance to do just that, by shaking her groove thang across the Dancing With the Stars stage this year. And it may be just what she needs to turn everything around financially and professionally, according to a source currently close to Anderson.

“In the last 15 years since she left Baywatch, she’s just gone on this whirlwind and probably gone the wrong way in the past but now she feels like she’s back where she should be and having a good time,” the source tells BettyConfidential.

“She’s getting compliments on her work on the show, which is something she is not used to,” adds the source. “She’s used to getting all the negative publicity. So yeah, it’s good for her. I think it’s a good experience for her be back out there. It’s really been a tough few years. Pam doesn’t like to show it but I think it’s been a bit scary for her.”

Indeed, since the end of Baywatch, Anderson had seen her role as the quintessential blonde beach-bunny sex symbol slowly slide into the ocean.

Here’s a look back at Pammy’s wayward career.

I’ll give this to her — she’s certainly resilient! She’s a bit of a mess (to put it mildly) but at least she’s an individual.
