What Would Debbie Do?
The Prettiest Girl in the Room
I have a beautiful girlfriend whom I am so in love with, but my problem is that I’m not the only one. Most of the guys (and some girls) she knows tend to fall for her, and I can’t help but feel jealousy and fear when they confess their feelings. Sometimes it makes me wonder if I am good enough, and attractive enough. Is this one of the challenges I have to face for having such a gorgeous girlfriend? How should I be reacting?

Dear Not-so-Good-Looking Man,
One of the things that is most attractive in a man is confidence. So if you’re telling me you’re with the prettiest and most popular girl, and you don’t think you’re “all that,” clearly she loves you for something more than your looks. And that’s a good thing you should feel confident about. Be proud to be with such a great girl. And forget about your insecurities. Because my guess is that your girl will leave you if you continue to be so jealous and unconfident.
And when everyone falls over your girl with gobs of compliments, your reaction should be the following, “I’m the luckiest man alive because I get to go home with her!” That’s what I would do.
