Troubled heiress Casey Johnson, who recently got engaged to reality TV and Internet star Tila Tequila, was found dead yesterday morning. She was just 30 years old.
Tila told TMZ that Casey stayed with her on December 28, but that the couple fought and she hadn’t heard from Casey since the 29th, when her phone appeared to be shut off.
The police have yet to determine a cause of death, but there is an investigation, and a source told TMZ it appeared Casey had been dead for several days when her body was discovered on January 4.
The Johnson & Johnson heiress ran into trouble recently. She was arrested for grand theft in November, and her former friend told Page Six that Casey’s mother Sale cut her off several weeks ago.
“Casey basically needs to go into rehab for a long time,” Casey’s former friend, model Jasmine Lennard told Page Six in early December. “She has walked out [of treatment programs] twice against her parents’ wishes, so they told her no more money. The last time she left early a few months ago and wrote at the bottom of her exit form: ‘[Bleep] you — keep the money.”
Jasmine also said that Casey’s house was falling apart.
“Her house on Mulholland Drive is a mess,” Jasmine added. “The electricity is off, there are rats, the pool is green. She was supposed to be evicted and her Porsche is being repossessed.”
If Casey was having this much financial trouble, she certainly managed to hide it. Fiance Tila spent the last few weeks showing off her 17-carat diamond engagement ring from Casey and Tweeting about their romance.
Casey leaves behind an adopted daughter, Ava.
