Time Magazine Names Ben Bernanke the 2009 Person of the Year
The publication claims Bernanke was the reason the American financial crisis isn’t more in the hole.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has been named the 2009 Person of the Year by Time magazine.
Bernanke, who is regarded as a scholar of the Great Depression and “the most powerful nerd on the planet”, managed to leapfrog Apple CEO Steve Jobs, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, President Obama and many others.
“The story of the year was a weak economy that could have been much, much weaker,” the article stated. “Thank the man who runs the Federal Reserve, our mild-mannered economic overlord. He didn’t just reshape U.S. monetary policy; he led an effort to save the world economy.” (CNN)
