Richard Heene, the father of the 6-year-old “Balloon Boy” Falcon Heene, who was said to have floated away on a “homemade flying saucer” in Colorado last week may have passionately denied that the incident was a stunt on The Today Show, however, a lawyer for Heene and his wife is singing a different tune, stating that the couple is willing to turn themselves in to police, if necessary.
On Sunday, Larimer County sheriff Jim Alderden announced that Colorado authorities believed the balloon boy’s flight to be a hoax.
“It has been determined that this is a hoax. We believe we have evidence at this point to indicate that this was a publicity stunt,” he said to reporters.
No charges have been filed yet but the Heenes could face up to 6 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for the unnecessary search and rescue mission authorities undertook looking for their son who was found to be safe at home. (Fox News)
