U.S. charges Najibullah Zazi with bomb scheme
On Thursday a 24-year-old Colorado shuttle driver from Afghanistan was arrested on federal charges of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction in a potential Al Qaeda-related bomb plot in the U.S.
According to federal documents Najibullah Zazi conspired for over a year to detonate bombs on New York City subways and trains, and recently sought “urgent” aide to create explosives.
Authorities has reason to believe that Zazi could have been plotting an attack in NYC, similar to those on subways in Madrid and London.
“We are investigating a wide range of leads related to this alleged conspiracy, and we will continue to work around the clock to ensure that anyone involved is brought to justice,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement. “We believe any imminent threat arising from this case has been disrupted.” (FOXNews.com)
